NOTE: Before performing any significant repairs, back up your computer's hard drive.
You can use safe mode to solve issues with your system. The purpose of Safe Mode is to allow you to troubleshoot Windows and try to determine what is causing it to not function correctly.
Follow these steps to enter safe mode:
From the desktop
- Click the Start > Settings > Update & security > Recovery
- Under Advanced startup click Restart
- After rebooting the system, you will enter Windows RE(Recovery environment).
- Please select Troubleshoot > Advanced options > Startup setting > Restart
- Now press the number 4 to select Enable Safe Mode
From the sign in screen
- Click on Power, press and hold Shift and then click or tap Restart.
- Please select Troubleshoot > Advanced options > Startup setting > Restart
- Now press the number 4 to select Enable Safe Mode
The words Safe Mode appear in the corners of your monitor to identify which Windows mode you're using. To exit safe mode, restart your computer and let Windows start normally.
